Netbeans – How to change the language pack

Method 1

If you want to run Netbeans IDE with another language pack, follow these instructions :

  1. Close the netbeans instance if it is running .
  2. Locate the directory /etc inside your Netbeans installation directory.
  3. Open the file netbeans.conf
    • In Windows systems (7 and 8), before open the file, you will need to run your preferred text editor as System Administrator. If you not do that you will not be able to save your changes.
  4. locate the option  netbeans_default_options and at the end insert of its content:
    • -J-Duser.language=<lang> -J-Duser.region=<region>

For <lang> and <region> the possibilities are:

  1. Japanese: language=ja *
  2. Brazilian portuguese language=pt region=BR
  3. Russian language=ru *
  4. Simplified Chinese language=zh region=CN
